Jamal Gaddafi officially quit TV to focus on politics

There was a sombre mood at KTN studios on Saturday evening when Jamal Gaddafi announced that it was his last day at the station hosting the late-night music show.

Jamal announced that yesterday was his last time hosting KTN's Mzuqa TV show as he plans to join the politics ahead of the August general elections.

In a video shared on his Instagram page, Jamal is in tears as he bade goodbye to his colleagues at the Standard Group media station.

He thanked both his colleagues and the viewers who have supported his TV show for the last eight years.

"It's time for a new adventure. Yesterday was my last show at KTN as I start a new chapter of my life in politics. What an epic 8 years? Thank you to everyone who supported me and my shows," he said.

The 35-year-old TV host is joining politics where he is expected to vie for the Malindi parliamentary seat under the ODM party ticket.

The award-winning journalist had previously expressed confidence that the would fly the ODM ticket noting that he would give his rivals a run for their money for the party ticket.

"I know ODM is a democratic party which will conduct free and fair primaries in which I am confident I will emerge the winner,” he said at a previous presser.

He seeks supplant Malindi MP Aisha Jumwa, who has announced that she will not defend her MP seat as she will be vying for the Kilifi gubernatorial seat.
