The National Police Service has dismissed a viral video alleged to be of a policeman being robbed of his phone while controlling traffic in an area believed to be Roysambu roundabout on Thika Road in Nairobi.
In a statement, the NPS says the video is forged for malicious purposes against the service.
The service further urged members of the public to treat the video with the contempt it deserves.

“Our investigations have revealed that a video circulating on social media insinuating to be of a police officer being snatched a phone is a manipulated video whose intention is malicious. We urge members of the public to ignore it,” read a statement shared on its social media handles.
In the viral video that has become the talk of many in social media, a policeman is seen having a phone conversation while on duty at a place believed to be Roysambu roundabout on Thika Road.
A boda boda rider carrying two people is seen making his way towards where the traffic officer is having a phone call from.
One of the two people aboard the motorbike is seen stretching his hands and grabs a mobile phone from the traffic officer and the rider speeds off.
The traffic officer is seen trying to make a chase but quits after it appears the boda boda rider has already had his way.
The officer engages another boda boda rider in a brief talk before he retreats to his earlier position.
The video ends by showing the officer embarking on his duty of controlling traffic in what appears to be a swift acceptance that he had lost his phone.
