‘I was paid Ksh1M to tarnish Sonko’s name’-W***n who filed case against Sonko for neglecting their child says

A children's court in Ngong has withdrawn a case in which Former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko had been sued for child upkeep.

This is after the woman who claimed to be Sonko's mistress swore an affidavit seeking to withdraw the matter saying she was promised Ksh1million to tarnish Sonko's name.

In her court papers, the woman says she had received Ksh240,000 from Mombasa to taint the former governor's name.

"I was approached by two ladies from Mombasa County namely Zuhura and Latifa who promised me a sum of Ksh1million to trash the name of the defendant (Sonko) who was then seeking nomination to contest for the position of Governor Mombasa County by filling the case, " the woman stated.

" I confirm l have been paid Ksh240,000 in cash by the said two ladies."

Woman files case against Sonko

The new twist comes after the woman on May 12, 2022 filed an application in court seeking to compel sonko to pay Ksh448,450 monthly for the upkeep of their 15-year-old daughter.

The lady wanted the court to compel him to make a monthly maintenance of over Ksh400,000 in order for her to meet needs of the girl.

Pending determination of the case, she also wanted Sonko compelled to pay school fees of Ksh86,000 and another Ksh30,450 to cater for school related expenses and uniform, provide medical cover and upkeep for the girl.

In addition, she wanted Sonko compelled to clear the outstanding school fees balance of Ksh37,000.

In her application filed in court the woman identified as CD had alleged that Sonko had neglected his parental responsibility of taking care of their child.
