Four people died on Saturday morning (October 31) in a road accident at Kahoya area in Timboroa, Baringo County.
The 6am crash involved a Toyota Prado and a Toyota Probox, which were heading the same direction — from Eldoret towards Nakuru.
Eye witnesses told K24 Digital that the driver of the Toyota Prado had attempted to overtake other vehicles, and upon seeing lorries approaching from the opposite direction, he veered onto his lane, and, in the process, rammed against the Toyota Probox.
“Due to the impact, the Prado forced the Probox off the road, leading to the crashing of the Probox,” said Niver Oluchiri, an eye witness.
Four occupants of the Toyota Probox died on the spot, authorities said. Other four victims, who were in the Toyota Prado, sustained injuries of varying degree, and were taken to Timboroa Health Centre for emergency care.
The lorries, which were approaching from the opposite direction, were damaged slightly, whereas the Probox and the Prado had extensive damages.
Bodies of the four Probox occupants were taken to Eldama Ravine Sub-County Hospital morgue by police at 8am.
Eldama Ravine OCPD Maxwell Agoro confirmed the incident to K24 Digital, saying the deceased are yet to be identified.
