A recent review by Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority-EPRA shows that the price of petrol is set to rise by ksh3.56 save for diesel and kerosene prices which have not changed.

According to the new adjustment, Super Petrol will now retail at ksh.126.37, diesel at ksh.107.66, and kerosene at ksh.97.85 per litre.

In a statement, EPRA noted that the new prices take effect on May 15 for 30 days.

" In accordance with Section 101(y) of the Petroleum Act 2019, Legal Notice No.196 of 2010 and Legal Notice No. 26 of 2012, the Energy & Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) has calculated the maximum retail prices of petroleum products, which will be in force from 15th May 2021 to 14th June 2021. Super Petrol, Diesel, and Kerosene will now retail at Kshs.126.37, Kshs.107.66, and Kshs.97.85 per litre respectively in Nairobi starting midnight, " EPRA wrote on Facebook.

The fuel price curve is steadily rising and this can be traced to high taxes imposed in the country.

This consequently leads to an increase in the cost of living mostly to consumers as traders try to compensate high cost of production and transport.
