Easy Coach transport company is walking back a previous statement suspending the transportation of fish and fish products using its buses.

In a statement on Tuesday, August 15, 2023, the company said passengers are now allowed to carry fish and fish products on condition that it is “appropriately packed.”

“The suspension has been lifted and you can now carry your fried, dried, smoked, salted; mbuta, ngege, kamongo, omena etc, ONLY as accompanied luggage on our buses on condition that it is appropriately packed,” the statement read in part.

The company had ordered a temporary halt to the exercise following complaints from various customers that the fish products were contaminating their accompanied luggage.

The ban triggered negative reactions from various customers forcing Easy Coach to lift it.

This comes barely days after Easy Coach, announced Ksh100 fare hikes across all its routes due to the recent increase in the fuel Value Added Tax (VAT).

"As a result of the recent increase in the fuel Value Added Tax (VAT), we are obliged to incorporate this adjustment into our fare rates. The fare for all our routes will be adjusted upwards by Ksh100. Book your tickets before August 1, 2023, to save the Ksh100," Easy Coach stated.
