Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua on Saturday left for Rwanda for the 30th commemoration of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi.

Gachagua is expected to represent President William Ruto at the event dubbed 'Kwibuka 30', which will be held tomorrow, Sunday, April 7, 2024.

Several Heads of State, envoys and heads of delegations are expected to grace the event themed 'Remember-Unite-Renew'.

Gachagua is also expected to meet and interact with a section of Kenyans living and working in Rwanda, the meeting will be held at Serena Hotel in Kigali.

He will also discuss matters involving the improvement of the diaspora experience and economic strategies in various sectors.

The DP was accompanied by Diaspora Principal Secretary (PS) Roseline Njogu, Members of Parliament (MPs) Patrick Munene (Igamba Ngombe), Julius Rutto (Kesses), Parashina Samuel (Kajiado South), John Kaguchia (Mukurwe-ini), Benjamin Langat (Ainamoi), Agnes Pareiyo (Narok North).

Others present included; Deputy Majority Leader Owen Mbaya (Kilifi North), Gatanga MP, Edward Muriu, and Nominated Senator Veronicah Maina. and two university student leaders; Justise Badali, the president of Muranga University of Technology and Pwani University president Ngugi Mwaura.

The country's second in command was seen off by Chief of Defence Forces Francis Ogolla.
