Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) detectives in Busia's Butula sub-county are pursuing a man who assaulted his 32-year-old wife by chopping off her hands before escaping on a waiting motorcycle.

According to DCI, the appalling incident at Sikarara area of Butula was reported last evening by the victim's elder sister, who was not aware of any wrangle existing between the couple.

As detectives search for the cruel husband identified as Benard Ouma, the victim is being treated at the Busia County Referral Hospital.

More investigations to establish the cause of the gruesome attack ongoing.
