The body of a Class Six pupil was on Saturday morning found hanging from a rope tied to a tree near her parents’ home in Kisyet Village in Konoin Constituency, Bomet County.

The 14-year-old girl, who was studying at Kabiangek Primary School, had arrived home from school at 10am, when she took a plastic container and went to the river to fetch water, but she did not return.

“We do not know the motive of her alleged suicide, but were have launched investigations into her death,” Konoin police boss, Alex Shikondi, told K24 Digital.

According to Shikondi, the girl’s parents said their daughter was a quiet and highly-secretive child.

“They [deceased’s parents] say that the girl did not tell them anything that was troubling her ahead of the incident,” said Shikondi.

The teenager’s body was taken to Kapkatet Hospital mortuary in Kericho County.
