Ciku Muiruri's daughter Erica Muiruri and her friend Shanice Agose have been rescued eight days after a taxi driver reportedly abducted them.

The two were rescued on Sunday evening after they were found in a one-room house in Mang'u, Gatundu North Constituency.

Two suspects, Timothy Kiragu Ng'ang'a (34) and Samuel Kipkurui (33), were later arrested by police at Ngoigwa area in Thika.

“Upon conducting a quick search, a recovery of Erica Njeri's phone was done wrapped in a foil paper. After they were interviewed, they led detectives to Mang'u Gatukuyu area in Gatundu North where they had rented a single room and kept the victims,” a police report said.

The two girls, who according to the police were "visibly weak and shaken", were reportedly fed with mandazis and water through the eight-day period.

The kidnappers were demanding a ransom of Ksh250,000 from both parents.

Ciku's plea

Erica and Shanice were abducted on Sunday, June 4, 2023, at 2 am according to a Facebook post by the media personality.

A distressed Muiruri asked her followers to pray that the two friends are not harmed by the abductors.

"We know that prayers can move mountains. Stop wars. Please pray for my daughter Erica Njeri and her friend Shanice Agose as part of your intentions. Also, and this is very important, pray for those who have taken them, that their souls may not be lost," she added.

Erica, 26, is a University of Nottingham alumni and the founder of the Le Ngai Foundation.

"I will not have a bite to eat until she is safely returned. And I have faith that with all your prayers, she will be returned to me safe and sound," she added.

"I'm going to do everything in my power to get her home safely but I know that we cannot even tie our shoes without God's Grace. I have no control over what they are doing to her, where she is or if I will ever see her alive again," Muiruri added.

The two girls were kidnapped at Rhapta Road in Westlands.
