Three people including two suspected Bodaboda thieves and a watchman were killed in three days of robbery with violence in Athi River, Machakos County.

According to Mlolongo Katani Assistant county Commissioner Dennis Ongaga, the two young men were among an armed gang of four robbers who were trying to steal a motorbike from a rider.

The incident happened along airport road, opposite Earth View Court in Syokimau within Mlolongo, where the two were caught by an irate mob and beaten mercilessly before being lynched.

Speaking to K24 Digital, Ongaga said the suspects were burnt beyond recognition by the furious bodaboda operators.

“It is alleged that the two were among four suspected motorcycle thieves who were using a motorcycle without registration number and had attempted to rob off another motorcycle which is yet to be established,” Ongaga stated.

The Mlolongo Sub County administrator elaborated that, “the rider and one thug escaped to an unknown destination while the two were cornered beaten and set ablaze.”

The motorcycle that was allegedly stolen was later recovered abandoned within Syokimau area.

In a different robbery with violence incidence, a nightguard from Pearson parking security was killed by an unknown group of armed thugs who broke into a bar.

“The thugs stole three speakers, mixer (Yamaha make), and Motor Bike. But they damped the 3 speakers and recovered when an alarm was raised by a village elder,” the ACC explained.

Police have documented the scenes and moved the three bodies to city mortuary and Shalom Hospital Mortuary respectively awaiting identification and postmortem.

The Assistant County Commissioner said the area has witnessed three days series of robbery with violence whereby in the third incidence, a group 8 men armed with crude weapons forced entry into the residence of Grace John and went away with a TV set, 2  laptops, a gas cylinder and other household items.

In another burglary occurrence that happened within Syokimau, four armed robbers, three armed with a pistol, abducted a woman from a house and later abandoned her at Maruirui within Nairobi County unhurt.

Ongaga said the robbers were reported to have cornered one Evans Nyaema, and forced him to open the family house where they gained access and stole property, before abducting his wife.

“The four armed robbers, 3 armed with Pistols were said to have emerged from behind using a Toyota Vitz vehicle whose registration numbers was not identified and commanded them to open their house where they managed to steal 4 mobile phones, Hisense Tv, a laptop, Ksh25,000 and personal documents inside his wallets,” Ongaga said.

He said the incidences have posed a security threat even though they are on their toes to ensure all suspects are arrested and insecurity curbed.

“We have improved patrol and the DCI is investigating all incidences and we also ask members of the public to embrace Nyumba Kumi and security policing to ensure we fight insecurity as we go towards Christmas,” he said.
