A church service at an AIPCA church in Moto area, Kuresoi North Sub-County was disrupted after armed police officers stormed inside seeking to arrest one of the congregants.

The armed police officers surrounded the church on Sunday in pursuit of one James Marigi, who is said to have quarreled with his neighbour ownership of a sheep.

Alarmed, worshippers ran helter skelter fearing for their lives.

The church chairman, Benson Njuguna, said the police action of entering the church armed upset him, saying they should have waited until the service was over to arrest the suspect.

The church pastor, Sammy Muiruri, condemned the incident saying the police should have acted diligently instead of scaring off his innocent flock.

Speaking via phone, Kuresoi North OCPD Chemonges Ndiema defended the officers action, saying it is their mandate to arrest suspects wherever they may be.
