Three main criminal suspects in Embu have been arrested following a thorough operation by the DCI to solve the rising insecurity in the area.

In a statement, the trio was nabbed after an undercover team of detectives from the elite Crime Research & Intelligence Bureau conducted a four-day sting operation to stop end the escalating crime wave that had bedevilled the town and its environs.

The three arrested include James Murathi alias Jimcarter, 39, Andrew Murathi alias Waaxy, 44, and Charles Mwaniki alias Bush, 37, who have since been taken to Siakago police station for further interrogation.

It is said that the trio broke into a house in Ishiara, Mbeere North sub-county after interfering with the home's CCTV before taking off with households of an unknown amount and a car belonging to the victim which the detectives have since recovered and returned back to the owner.

"The daring suspects had in August this year broken into a house Ishiara, Mbeere North sub-county and terrorised its occupants before making away with assorted household goods, an unspecified amount of cash and the victim’s motor vehicle. This is after they disconnected the home’s CCTV cameras and took off with its recorder to avoid being unmasked," part of the statement read.

In October, the criminals are also said to have staged another raid in a homestead while armed with crude weapons.

"Last month, the same gang armed with machetes, axes and other crude weapons staged yet another attack at a homestead in Kanyuambora and made away with around Ksh30,000 and 6 mobile phones," the statement further reads.

Currently, the suspects are being interrogated before arraignment in court to answer to charges of robbery with violence.
