Boy band Sauti Sol has announced an indefinite hiatus from working as a group.
In a statement shared on Saturday, May 20, 2023, the band members, Bien-Aime Baraza, Willis Chimano, Polycarp Otieno and Savara Mudigi, announced that they will go on a break from group projects after their final tour. They said they will have a tour to 5 cities across the US, then head to Europe where they will make 10 stops.
They will also head to four stops in Canada before performing alongside Boys II men during the Stanbic Yetu Festival in Nairobi on June 10 and 11. To finalise, the boy group will hold a final performance at their Third Edition of the Sol Fest in Nairobi on December 16, 2023.
"The upcoming tour across the US, Europe and Canada is a chance for fans to immerse themselves in the magic of Sauti Sol one last time before the band takes a break from group projects for a while. Each performance will be infused with a sense of deep love and gratitude as the ensemble delivers their timeless hits and fan favourites that have left an indelible mark on our collective memories," they said.
The group noted that despite the hiatus marking the end of a specific chapter, the members still remain friends and business partners.
"With the indefinite hiatus marks the end of a specific chapter. As close friends and business partners, the band members are eager to explore fresh, creative avenues and embark on personal endeavours. However, their friendship and shared vision will continue to be the driving force behind their future projects," the statement added.
Notably, expressed immense gratitude towards their fans for supporting them through their course.
"We are filled with gratitude for the love and support we have received throughout the years. While we take this hiatus to pursue our individual and collective passions, we remain committed to our friendship and our shared businesses. The bond between us is unbreakable and we are excited for what the future holds
