Ruth Matete's first marriage

Matete was previously married to her late husband John Apewajoye who succumbed to burns after a fire accident at their home.

At the time, it was just three weeks after they had learnt they were expecting their first child.

It is said that they had reportedly refilled their cooking gas cylinder but found it excessively pressurized. He would then take the cylinder to the balcony to release the excess gas but he lit it before it was all out.

Ruth Matete had dated John for two years and eight months before their private wedding in November 2019.

Speaking of his death, she told Reverend Dad that although people blamed it on her, God was gracious to help her overcome it.

"The online bullying affected me much later. I was two months when he passed and dealing with the loss of a husband and early first pregnancy if someone had told me that I would go through it, nah, but I thanked God for grace" The gospel minister added.
