Jamaican artiste Siccature Alcock, alias Jah Cure has been sentenced to six years in prison after being found guilty of attempted manslaughter.

In October 2021, the famed reggae artiste was arrested in Amsterdam, the Netherlands concerning an alleged stabbing incident.

Jah Cure was accused of stabbing Nicardo 'Papa' Blake, a music promoter, in the stomach before being arrested and detained in an Amsterdam Penitentiary where he celebrated both his 43rd birthday and Christmas holidays.

In his defence, the musician claimed that he stabbed the promoter out of self-defence. He told the court that if he didn't stab the complainant, the situation would have been the other way around.

"He (the music promoter) is a real criminal. If I had waited a minute, it would have been me," Jah Cure said.

The court, however, dismissed his claims after reviewing CCTV footage, hearing submissions of witnesses and reviewing voice messages sent to the promoter by Jah Cure.

“The 43-years old man was sentenced to six years in prison, with credit for time served, for attempted manslaughter. The court finds him not guilty of attempted murder. His claim of self-defence was rejected by the court," read a release from Netherlands Public Prosecution Service.

Jah Cure's legal team may choose to appeal the ruling in the Netherlands Court of Appeal.
