DJ Joe in murder case

DJ Joe Mfalme is reported to have been in a heated altercation with the police officer at Texas Barbeque, an entertainment spot in Kikuyu, on Saturday, March 16.

The incident began when Inspector Felix Kelian Kitosi, a DCIO at Kabete Police Station, accidentally scratched the DJ's vehicle in the parking lot.

This led to a physical altercation involving Joe Mfalme, his bouncer, photographer, and driver.

The altercation resulted in Kelian sustaining severe abdominal injuries, for which he was rushed to Nairobi West Hospital.

Tragically, Kelian passed away due to his injuries.

Joe, 3 officers detained for 14 days

The four were held in custody for 14 days pending an investigation into the murder of the senior detective.

Initially, the Office of the Director of Public Prosecution (ODPP) had requested 21 days to detain seven individuals, but the court decided on a 14-day detention period.

Among the accused individuals are Mfalme, Allan Ochieng, Eric Kariuki Gathua, Simon Wambugu Wanjiru, Khadija Abdi Wako, Sammy Cheruiyot Rotich, and Agnes Kerubo Mogoi.

Court heard

They are reported to have assaulted Detective Felix Kelian from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) on March 16, 2024, resulting in his death on March 21, 2024.

Magistrate Margaret Murage ordered that DJ Joe Mfalme, Eric Gathua, and Simon Wanjiru be held at Muthangari police station, while Allan Ochieng would be detained at Kabete police station.

Khadija Abdi Wako, Sammy Rotich, and Agnes Mogoi, who are police officers themselves, were to be held at Riruta police station.

The prosecution argued at the Kibra Law Court that the accused posed a flight risk if released. They highlighted that two of the accused, the sixth and seventh respondents, were police officers stationed at Kikuyu police station.

On the day of the incident, they were at the reporting desk and interacted with the deceased detective, who had come in with injuries and was observed urinating blood in the police station's restroom.
