Country Queen- Kenya's first Netflix series is finally available for streaming on Netflix and has elicited mixed reactions among Kenyans.

Critics have weighed in with surprisingly positive reviews while others have called out flaws in the show however, they all agree it has a lot to enjoy if you are a fan, despite a few shortcomings.

Curiously, the fictional series according to Netflix tackles real-world issues such as child labour.

It focuses on Akisa, a woman who moved far from her village to start a new life in Nairobi.

She is later compelled to go back home to visit her ailing father but upon her return, she finds that an exploitative mining company has discovered gold near the village. She is now left at crossroads where she must confront her past and decide what is truly important.
