Polycarp Igathe lands plum job with South African company

Polycarp Igathe has joined Johannesburg-based Tiger Brands as Chief Growth Officer – Rest of Africa effective December 1, 2022.

Tiger Brands is South Africa's largest food company, where he served as Managing Director of its East Africa business prior to his departure to join British petroleum company, Vivo Energy.

Igathe is a seasoned corporate executive, who vied for the Nairobi governorship seat in the August polls before he lost to Johnson Sakaja.

Igathe's career

He previously worked for Equity Group Holdings Plc as the Group Chief Commercial Officer reporting to the Group CEO.

He also served as the Vice President in charge of Sales and Marketing in Vivo Energy Africa. Before that, he served as the Chief Commercial Officer of Equity Bank Kenya, between May 2018 and September 2018 when he was later promoted to the Managing director position.

Education

He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in economics and sociology from the University of Nairobi and is a graduate of Strathmore University's Advanced Management Program (AMP) with IESE Business School in Spain. At the University of Nairobi, Igathe was the National Chairman of AIESEC in Kenya.
