Kakuma: Plane in Raila’s convoy experiences tire burst, fails to take off

An aircraft that was ferrying 8 Azimio la Umoja-One Kenya Alliance politicians experienced a tire burst at the Kakuma airstrip, Turkana county.

The politicians were heading to Lodwar after finalizing a political rally in Kakuma.

The aircraft, registration number 5Y-SPZ, was about to take off when its rear tire burst and veered off the runway.

According to eyewitness accounts, the plane was among the three fixed-wing caravan plane which was in Azimio's presidential flagbearer Raila Odinga's convoy.

Occupants of the ill-fated plane were not injured during the incident.

ODM leader Raila Odinga was not aboard the plane.
