Moi Girls High School, Eldoret, has been closed indefinitely after students held a demonstration on Wednesday morning.
The learners boycotted classes on Wednesday morning, February 17, accusing their principal, Christine Chumba, of reintroducing corporal punishment, mistreating subordinate staff, and serving them a poor diet.

In the litany of their complaints, the students claimed that Chumba had not only closed the school canteen but also removed from their diet, eggs, meat and sukuma wiki.
Speaking to K24 Digital, the students said that their new diet consisted primarily of ugali and cabbage.
The decision to sent the students home was reached at a meeting held in the school on Wednesday in which the Uasin Gishu County Director of Education Gitonga Mbaka, the school's Board of Management and principal attended.
Moi Girls School, Eldoret is one of the top national schools in the country and records impressive academic performance year-on-year.
Nearly all its students qualify to study regular courses in Kenya’s top public universities.
