Eugene Ambwere Murunga, the son of late Matungu MP Justus Murunga, has urged Deputy President William Ruto to “hold his hand, and never to forsake him”.

Eugene, who spoke during the burial ceremony of his father at Makunda Village in Matungu, Kakamega County, did not however expound on the support he needs from the DP.

“I knew the character of the DP through my father. He (Murunga) used to say: ‘do not look at Ruto, and see the person who has been portrayed in a certain way by sections of society members. Ruto is a leader of the people. He is the type of a leader whom you would malign up there, but his roots are deeply fixed in the soil. His roots are like an umbrella, which spread when opened’,” said Eugene.

“His Excellency the deputy president, hold my hand so that I can lead my late father’s family in the most appropriate way,” he said.
