Former President Uhuru Kenyatta has called on the media to protect the freedom of Kenyans and safeguard the nation's democracy.

His appeal comes after a police raid on his son's home in Karen, Nairobi. Kenyatta urged the media to champion the cause of freedom for Kenyans and safeguard the democratic principles of the country.

"Na nawashukuru wote, na ombi langu kama fourth estate, lindine uhuru wa wakenya. Lindeni demokrasia ya taifa letu la Kenya. Sina lingine hio ni haki yenu na wakenya wanatarajia mfanye hivyo,"(I thank you all, and my plea as the fourth estate, protect the freedom of Kenyans. Safeguard the democracy of our nation, Kenya. I have no other request; this is your duty, and Kenyans expect you to do so.) he said.

During the raid on his son Jomo's residence, the police conducted a search to determine the presence of any weapons.

In response to the incident, Uhuru Kenyatta criticized the government for targeting his family members, including the recent withdrawal of security for former First Lady Ngina Kenyatta.

The former president expressed his concern over the actions taken against his family and called for the media's support in upholding the rights and freedoms of Kenyans.
