Two people were on Wednesday shot dead by unknown gunmen in Yamicha, Isiolo County.

The gunmen are said to have also stolen the men's cattle before escaping in an incident that occurred at around 1:00 a.m.

The killings comes barely a week after 12 people were killed in the neighbouring Marsabit County over cattle rustling.

The recent incident has now raised fears that the affected community may plan to revenge the death of the two.

Multi-agency teams have since been deployed to the expansive area to address the latest issue which is worsening over political stands in the area.

Last week, IG Mutyambai said police officers had been sent to beef up security in the area and hunt the gang men.

“We urge for support from local leaders and other stakeholders to help us find an everlasting solution in the area,” Mutyambai said.

In the past few months, Marsabit and Isiolo counties have been embroiled in conflicts where ten people died and several injured.

The police officers have undertoned the violence between two dominant communities from the two counties is being fueled by politicians.
