Media personality Swaleh Mdoe has allayed fears over his health after a suspected food poisoning incident at the Royal Media Services (RMS).

Mdoe, who works as an editor and news anchor at RMS-owned Citizen TV, took to social media on Wednesday, December 28, to assure his fans that he was okay.

The outspoken journalist said he had received many calls from concerned relatives, friends and fans inquiring about his condition.

'Let me take this opportunity to thank all my friends, relatives and fans who called me to find out about my condition following the food poisoning incident at my work place. I am ok," Mdoe said in a tweet.

He condoled with the family of a colleague said to have succumbed to food poisoning-related complications and wished quick recovery to those still admitted in hospital.

"My condolences to the deceased colleague and quick recovery to others who are hospitalised," he added.

Yesterday, RMS Managing Director Wachira Waruru said a significant number of staff working over the Christmas shift had been affected by a "serious case of food poisoning".

Waruru said RMS had engaged a private food catering company to provide meals for staff working during the Christmas shift.

On Boxing Day, December 26 2022, some of the staff complained of severe stomach pains after consuming meals served within the premises of the company.

"We are deeply shocked and saddened to inform the public that one staff member has unfortunately succumbed to the illness attributed to suspected food poisoning. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family of our deceased staff member during this difficult time," he said.

"Several staffers have also been hospitalized for the suspected poisoning. RMS is providing all the necessary support to the affected staff and suspected food poisoning incident is currently under investigation."
