Police in Nakuru have nabbed a suspected firearms dealer after members of the public raised an alarm.

The suspect identified as John Mbuthia,33, who is a scrap metal dealer in Langa Langa estate is said to be in possession of thousands of spent bullets cartridges and copper wires suspected to have been vandalized from Kenya power transformers.

According to Rift valley regional Director of Criminal Investigation Officer(DCIO) Mwenda Meme, they suspect that the man is among the group that has been allegedly supplying weapons to bandits in Laikipia, Baringo and West Pokot counties.

A woman who is said to be the mastermind of this trade is still at large as police intensify her search.

Mbuthia is set to be arraigned in Nakuru law court on Wednesday, November 10.
