President William Ruto has issued a stern warning to terrorists causing unrest in Lamu County.

Addressing a crowd on Saturday, November 4, 2023, the country's Head of State stressed that his administration will intensify the war on Al Shabaab militants terrorizing residents in the county.

He specifically pointed out that he had issued orders to ministers in his cabinet to ensure that the militants left the country as soon as possible.

"Hatuezi kuruhusu wahalifu na magaidi wakuje kujenga kibanda hapa na ndio sababu hio tumekubaliana na mawaziri kwamba maghaidi lazima watoke hii Lamu, na wasipotoka tutapambana na wao . Mambo ya maghaidi hapa either watoke Kenya ama wasafiri waende mbinguni," he said.

Ruto's remarks were echoed by Defense Cabinet Secretary (CS) Aden Duale who issued a stern warning to terror financiers noting that their days were numbered.

The CS also assured residents that the government will intensify the war against the militants in the country.

"Sisi tutapiga vita na Al Shabaab ndani ya Somalia na hapa, na wale ambao watakua wanahusiana na kufanya kazi na magaidi basi siku zenu ziko chache sana," he added.

The latest comes barely weeks after Interior CS Kithure Kindiki released the names and photos of the thirty-five people believed to be the masterminds behind the Lamu and Boni Enclave terror attacks.

At the time, the CS noted that the suspects, all males, were being accused of murdering civilians and attacking the American military base at Manda in 2020.

Kindiki also asked the wanted criminals to surrender to the nearest police station failure to which the government will take necessary measures.

“We will give notice to those criminals to surrender to the nearest police station, chief’s centre. if they don’t surrender, we will look for them we will find them and we will do what we must,” Kindiki stated.
