President William Ruto on Wednesday, January 4 revealed that his wedding ring that he acquired with his wife Rachel at River Road cost him Ksh700.

In a joint interview with leading television stations, the President said the ring, however, faded and they had to get a replacement.

"Let me tell you the story of the ring. When Rachel and I got married, we went to that fellow called Nagin Pattni along River Road and bought rings there. It was then Ksh700.

"My ring got tired along the way and broke. Rachel took so long to get a replacement," he stated.

The ring story came up during the interview after netizens questioned why the President had no ring during his first interview at 7 pm

"In a hurry to come here, I was having some meetings in the office then they told me to go dress up for this interview.

"So, in the process of all that, I forgot my ring and it is very interesting that it became a subject of discussion. I thought we were having a very serious discussion," Ruto explained.

A quick scan of the President's past photos shows he had never been spotted with a ring when he was the deputy president.

A few days after his inauguration on September 13, the President began wearing it.

His wife, however, has always won a wedding ring.
