A long, dramatic pursuit of Raila Odinga’s VIP protection officers ensued on Thursday afternoon, when the ex-prime minister’s bodyguards, who were driving in a speeding vehicle, declined to pull over when they were ordered by traffic police officers in Nakuru County.

Raila Odinga was not traveling on the highway, when the incident happened. His security personnel were driving in a white Toyota Land Cruiser.

It is alleged that the ODM leader’s security officers, who were five in number, were speeding on the Eldoret-Nakuru highway.

After defying the stop orders, traffic police officers, who were deployed to facilitate movement at the KFA roundabout in Nakuru, launched a chase, with their sirens rending the air.

The speeding vehicles and loud sirens caught the attention of curious onlookers who lined on the roadsides to catch the rare spectacle.

Fearing for their safety, other motorists pulled over to allow the speeding vehicles to pass.

Nakuru police officers had to call for reinforcement from the Nakuru Traffic Base to help in the pursuit, which was proving a hard one to nail.

After a long, tireless chase, police managed to corner the five, who were arrested and taken to Nakuru Central Police Station.

After being interrogated, the five were released and allowed to continue with their journey.

Area OCPD declined to speak to K24 Digital on the matter.
