The Kenya Railways (KR) has suspended the Nairobi commuter train service for Monday, March 27, 2023.

The corporation in a statement issued on Sunday night said that the Nairobi commuter train service had been suspended due to unavoidable circumstances.

"We wish to inform our customers that due to unavoidable circumstances, commuter train services scheduled for Monday the 27th March, have been suspended," a statement by KR reads in part.

The state corporation, however, informed its customers that the link train from the SGR station in Syokimau to the Central Business District (CBD) would not be affected by service suspension.

"All Madaraka Express link trains between the Nairobi Central Station and the Nairobi Terminus will, however, run as scheduled," KR said.

Adding; " We do sincerely apologize to all our esteemed customers for any inconvenience caused."

Monday, March 27

Monday, March 27, 2023, also happened to be the day that Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Alliance called for nationwide demonstrations against the government.

The last demos on March 20, 2023, wreaked havoc in the city as police and protesters engaged in running battles in the CBD and in residential areas.

A spot check showed there was a heavy contingent of anti-riot police officers across Nairobi on Monday morning ahead of the Azimio demos.
