Jubilee Vice Chairman David Murathe now claims that President William Ruto is silently backstabbing his deputy Rigathi Gachagua to ruin his political ambitions.
Murathe who was speaking during an engagement meeting in Lamu on Saturday, December 9, 2023, claimed that Ruto strategically befriended East Africa Legislative Assembly (EALA) Member of Parliament (MP) Kanini Kega and nominated MP Sabina Chege to prevent them from affiliating with his deputy Rigathi Gachagua.
While insisting that the move was meant to prevent the DP from forming his party, Murathe further alleged that the United Democratic Alliance (UDA's) plot to have two deputy leaders alongside the DP was a scheme meant to get rid of the DP.
"Huyu Ruto ni mjanja, anajua sheria, ni njia anatafuta ya kuwatoa officials and I can tell you the secret because walianza kuenda na Riggy G. Ruto hawezi kubali Riggy G akue na chama so anamkata miguu.
"Wanasema ati wanataka three deputy party leaders sijui waeke Mudavadi, Weta, na Riggy G, nayo Mount Kenya imechemka wanataka deputy party leader akue mmoja, akufukuzaye hakuambii toka ama namna gani," Murathe said.
Loosely translates to:
“Ruto is very clever, he knows the law, and he is looking for ways to get rid of the officials because they started aligning themselves politically with DP Gachagua like Kanini and Sabina. Ruto cannot allow Gachagua to form his party. So he is cutting him down to size."
“You have heard the attempts to have three deputy party leaders including installing Mudavadi, Wetangula, and Rigathi. That is why you have heard Mt Kenya protesting because they insist the party only has 1 deputy party leader, Rigathi. When a person doesn't want you around they don't tell you directly."
Further, Murathe called on opposition leader Raila Odinga and Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka to act by vying in the upcoming election.
He warned that should the leaders not plan themselves accordingly, he would contest for the seat.
"Tunaambia baba na Kalonzo kama hawajipangi kutoa hawa watu 2027 si ata huyu Kioni anatosha, si ata mimi ninatosha, I can go for it. Wajipange, wasipojipanga watapangwa," he added.
