Monday blackout to last for 9 hours in some areas – Kenya Power

Kenya Power issued a notice informing Kenyans of power interruptions in select parts of the country on Monday, January 29, 2024.

The utility firm in a notice on its website said that the power interruption is necessary to facilitate maintenance and upgrade power lines to the network.

"Notice is hereby given under Rule 27 of the Electric Power Rules that the electricity supply will be interrupted as here under: (It is necessary to interrupt supply periodically to facilitate maintenance and upgrade of power lines to the network; to connect new customers or to replace power lines during construction, etc.)," Kenya Power said.

The utility firm noted that the Monday, January 29, 2024, power interruptions will affect Kajiado and Nyeri Counties.

Kenya Power said parts of Kajiado County will be in blackout for nine long hours, from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.

The areas affected include; Kitili Farm, Kikora Farm, Mbogo Tuu, Engirkir Crushe, Namanga Town, Bisil, Ngatataek, Maili Tisa, Kumpa and adjacent customers.

Parts of Nyeri County will be in blackout for eight hours, from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.

The areas affected include; Muthinga, Kaigode, Mungaria, Kangubiri, Nyaithe, Maingirano and adjacent customers.
