Uasin Gishu Senator Jackson Mandago has responded to reports that the Director of Public Prosecutions has ordered his arrest.

According to reports, the DPP has ordered the arrest of Mandago and three others over Finland and Canada Overseas Education Programme where millions were allegedly lost.

Already, Nakuru Court has issued a warrant for the arrest of Mandago and three county officials over the aborted Finland education programme.

In a statement on Wednesday, August 16, 2023, Mandago said he was ready to surrender to the police if required so.

"There are rumours all over Eldoret Town that DCI Officers have been looking for me the whole night. As a law-abiding citizen, I am available once summoned," Mandago stated.

He says that he has reached an agreement with parents and students who paid millions to the programme but never travelled abroad for education.

"I have met with the leadership of parents and agreed on the way forward as per their press statement issued last evening," Mandago added.

On Tuesday, parents and students who had planned to disrupt the devolution conference over botched Finland and Canada airlift education programme called off their mission some hours before the start of the much-awaited event.

This came after the leaders of the parents and students met Uasin Gishu Governor Jonathan Bii and Senator Mandago.

Speaking in Eldoret, Kimutai Kirui, who has been leading the parents, said that the two leaders were willing to refund the money.

“Indeed, we held a night-long crisis meeting with the Governor on Sunday and also the Senator called us for another meeting on Saturday where they impressed upon us to call off the planned demonstration on the day the President is set to open the devolution conference saying they were ready and willing to refund the money,” Kirui.
