56-year-old man takes his own life in Machakos

A 56-year-old man committed suicide by hanging himself in his house in Nguluni area of Matungulu, Machakos County on Tuesday, August 8.

The lifeless body of Peter Kioko Wambua was discovered by his children who alerted the neighbours.

The area assistant Chief Virginia Mweu confirmed the incident, saying the motive of the suicide remains unknown as the deceased did not leave a note behind.

Wambua's neighbour Duncan Kitheka expressed his shock at the late man’s decision, urging his neighbours to seek help when experiencing challenges in life.

"Do not try to commit suicide when faced with difficulties call your brother, your neighbour, your sister and talk about the difficulties and get a solution," Kitheka urged.

One of the deceased friends said that he was not aware of any problem that could have led to Wambua ending his life.

According to the friend, Wambua did not show any signs that he was distressed.

The body of the deceased was picked up by officers from Tala Police Station officers and taken to Patjud Nguluni Mortuary awaiting autopsy.

Meanwhile, in the same area, police have arrested an AIC Nguluni School watchman on suspicion that he was involved in a theft that took occurred in the school last night.

According to reports, the thieves broke into the school's office and stole a laptop and a projector among other items.

In the past few days, the area has been witnessing theft. On Wednesday last week, thieves broke into a father’s office at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Tala and stole a laptop.

They then attacked and injured the watchman who was guarding the church premises before leaving him tied up with ropes.

In the same week, thieves broke into Kyamulendu Secondary School and stole some valuables.
