Former Trade Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria has proudly listed his accomplishments during his 11-month tenure in the role as he takes up new responsibility.

Kuria was reassigned to the Ministry of Public Service, Performance & Delivery Management, formerly known as the Ministry of Public Service, Gender and Affirmative Action, while his previous post was filled by Rebecca Miano.

In a statement on his X account, Kuria listed his key achievements while bidding farewell to the MITI.

"With my head held up high, I move to new responsibilities."

Achievements

According to the CS, his key achievements during his time as Trade Cabinet Secretary include implementing the Exports & Investments Promotion Levy to discourage unnecessary imports, introducing a pipeline of 26 Mega Deals with the Gulf Region and Indonesia, and successfully negotiating a substantial Ksh450 Billion investment from Afriexim Bank in E-Mobility, Special Economic Zones, and Export Processing Zones.

He also noted that he played a pivotal role in Kenya's accession to the Pan African Payment and Settlement System, launched County Aggregation & Industrial Parks in multiple counties, and initiated critical agreements, including the Economic Partnership Agreement with the European Union.

Furthermore, Kuria said he championed African integration by advocating for the unification of the East African Community (EAC), Southern African Development Community (SADC), and Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA) under the Tripartite Free Trade Agreement.

Additionally, Kuria said he twice hosted the African Continental Free Trade Area Trade Ministers Council in the same year, initiated the implementation of a Warehouse Receipt System and Commodities Exchange, and began the creation of a Kenya International Trade Agency to promote Kenyan exports globally.
