Interior Cabinet Secretary nominee Kithure Kindiki has vowed that no Kenyan will have to pay to be recruited for positions in the security docket.

Kindiki while appearing before a vetting committee on Tuesday, October 18, 2022, pledged to use his power to ensure that Kenyans who qualify for various positions within the police service, prisons service and other formations secure jobs without having to pay bribes if he is approved by the house and the president.

"With regard to recruitment I want to promise this country that If I am approved as Cabinet secretary for Interior I will do whatever it takes to ensure that no Kenyan pays one shilling for their child to be recruited within the police service, the prisons service and other formations under this ministry," the accomplished lawyer stated.

At the same time, the former Tharaka Nithi senator also vowed to deal with criminals terrorizing innocent citizens.

While pledging his commitment to discharge his mandate, the lawyer assured the nation that the Kenya Kwanza administration will follow the law even as they deal with the culprits found guilty.

"I agree violence is not an option but it’s one of the options when it comes to the banditry issue because how will you engage with a criminal who has stolen cows from an innocent person and is hiding in a gorge?" Kindiki posed.

"Even the most established democracies must use violence to protect the 99% of its citizens against the 1% that want to destroy our democracy. I have no apologies to make about this. Criminals have to be faced as criminals, period! "Some force has to be used, but I assure the nation that we will follow the law."
