Kenya Power announces electricity interruptions in 9 counties

Kenya Power on Wednesday night announced planned power interruptions in nine counties.

In a statement, the utility company stated that the interruptions expected today, Thursday, October 19, 2023, will affect counties such as Makueni, Laikipia, Nyeri, West Pokot, Kisumu, Migori, Mombasa, Kirinyaga and Kiambu.

The planned power interruptions are set to begin from 8 am to 5 pm.

In Makueni county, power interruptions will be experienced in the whole of Kathonzweni area from 9 am to 5 pm.

Areas that will be affected include Makueni Boys & Girls, Governors Offices, Wote Huduma Center, County Assembly, Wote Technical Training Institute, Nyunzu, ENI Kenya Malivani, Unoa S/Centre, Sinai, Kwa Kathoka and adjacent customers.

Kenya Power also indicated that part of Mombasa Road such as Sultan Police, Holy Ghost Schools, Kalimbini, Ngokomi, Kwothithu, Kiongwani, Kima, Kiu, Salama, Kautandini, Malili, Enzai, Nunguni, Kilungu, Kavatanzou, Part of Sultan Town, and adjacent customers will also be affected by the planned interruptions.

In Laikipia county, the planned interruptions set to start from 9 am to 4 pm will affect the whole of Mukima, KHE Farm, Part of Mayan Hotel, Nturukuma, Councillor Kogi, Part of Lunatic, Likii Farm, Kwa Mwaura, Nyariginu, Murungai, Mwireri and other adjacent customers.

According to Kenya Power, the planned blackout in Mombasa county will affect part of Jomvu including areas such as Icolo, Synergy, Kuehne Nagel, Crown Petroleum Ltd, Shreej, Bayusuf, Petro City, Shell, Transtrailers, Apparel EPZ, Fehmi Nail Works, Jitono, Hakika Transporters, Road Tainers, Southern Shipping, Total Petrol Stn, Zaire Bar, Kwa Bendube, Jomvu, Kuu, Jitoni and adjacent customers from 9 am to 5 pm.

The planned blackout in Kiambu county will affect areas such as Gachie, Kihara Hosp, Njakai, Kagongo, Karura Kanyungu, Wangunyu Girls, Stage Nane from 9 am to 5pm.

The interruptions expected in Kiambu county will also affect Ondiri, Lusigeti, Croton and Muthaite areas from 8 am to 5pm whereas areas such as OJ, Prisons and Superfoam will experience blackout from 8.30 am to 5 pm.

In Kisumu county, the planned interruptions will occur in Masogo, Nyakoko, Amilo, Kasongo, Onyalobiro, Ombeyi, Ruutek, Kango, Kambara, Chemursoi, Kabar, Kadongo, Kolal, Keyo, Wagogni, Ramula and adjacent customers from 9 am to 5 pm.

Similarly, residents in Ngandu, Kiawanduha, Kiamaina, Magogoini, Unjiru, Grand Kago, Kanjata, Kiawarigi, Ichuga Sec, and Gathumbi areas in Nyeri county will experience power interruptions from 9 am to 4 pm.

"In West Pokot county, areas that will be affected by the planned interruptions include Ngandu, Kiawanduha, Kiamaina, Magogoini, Unjiru, Grand Kago, Kanjata, Kiawarigi, Ichuga Sec, Gathumbi," Kenya Power added.

In Kirinyaga county areas that will be affected include, Tebere Concretes, Kwa Mamba, Tana Gardens, Mark Five Hotels, Journey Rest Hotel, Destination Hotel, Total, Rubis, Shell & Promise Petrol Stations, Meved Dairy, Sun-Citi Hotel and adjacent customers.

The blackout in Kirinyaga county will be experienced from 9 am to 4 pm.

Similarly, in Migori county, the planned interruptions expected from 9 am to 3 pm will be witnessed in areas such as Migori Town, Shell Petrol Stn, Total Petrol Stn, Migori TTC, Jua Kali Migori, ABS Bank, Life Care Hosp, Nyikendo, Magina Boosters, Migori Hosp, Oruba, Wouth Ogik, Nyikendo, Bansi Mega, Banana Onding Mon, Isebania, Nyabisawa, Bondo, Nyironge, Osingo, Namba and adjacent customers.
