Former Christ is the Answer Ministries (CITAM) Presiding Bishop David Oginde told Parliament on Wednesday, April 5 that he is worth Ksh170 million.

Bishop Oginde was appearing before National Assembly Justice and Legal Affairs Committee for vetting for the position of Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) Chairperson.

"My net worth is Ksh170 million," he told the committee.

Oginde's nomination

President William Ruto on March 11 nominated Bishop Oginde for appointment as the Chairperson EACC.

According to a press release shared on social media by StateHouse spokesperson Hussein Mohamed, the clergyman's nomination came on the recommendation of the Public Service Commission.

"His Excellency William Samoei Ruto has, on the recommendation of the Public Service Commission, nominated Bishop David Adang Oginde for appointment as the Chairperson of the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC)," the press release read in part.

Upon his vetting and approval by the Parliament, Oginde will take over the chairmanship of the integrity body following the retirement of Archbishop Dr. Eliud Wabukala who served a full 6-year term at the helm of the EACC.

Oginde's nomination comes after a competitive recruitment process that saw the Public Service Commission recommend three applicants to the Head of State for nomination.

"The nomination was preceded by a competitive recruitment process undertaken by the Public Service Commission (PSC).

"At the conclusion of the exercise, PSC recommended to the Head of State and Government the appointment of any of the following persons; Bishop David Oginde, Prof Kibutha Kibwana or Amani Yuda Komara," the press release read further.
