Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has called upon all 47 counties to prioritize the development of recreational facilities as part of their efforts to promote a culture of healthy living.

"Given the rapid urbanization driven by devolution in our nation, it becomes increasingly important for local leaders, including our governors across all 47 counties, to consider investing in and maintaining such recreation facilities. This investment will help institutionalize a culture of healthy living," he added.

Gachagua, well-known for his daily morning walks as part of his fitness routine, recently shared a photo from his visit to El Virrey Park in Bogotá, Colombia.

He expressed how he was inspired by the well-maintained and attractive facilities he encountered during his trip.

"It is said if you want to walk fast, walk alone; if you want to go far, walk together. At El Virrey Park, Bogotá DC, Colombia, it was inspiring and energizing to exercise in such a well-maintained facility alongside numerous fitness enthusiasts. This experience came as I prepared for a busy schedule during my official visit to the Latin American country," he wrote in part.

He emphasized the significance of having similar recreational spaces within cities and towns, highlighting their role in encouraging healthy lifestyles and enhancing the productivity of both residents and visitors.
