KenGen has named former Chief of Defence Forces General (Rtd) Samson Mwathethe as its new board chairman.
"General (Rtd) Mwathethe was elected by shareholders at yesterday’s [Tuesday] virtual Annual General Meeting," said the power-generation firm on Twitter.
He replaces Joshua Choge who served for four years
Gen. Mwathethe retired from his position as the KDF boss in May 2020 after serving for five years at the top. He was replaced by General Robert Kibochi.
"The chairman brings to the organization immense wealth of experience in strategy and leadership which will steer KenGen to greater heights as we grow our footprint across Africa," said KenGen managing director, Mercy Miano.
Mwathethe will serve as the board chairman for a period of three years.
