Former Devolution Principal Secretary John Konchellah has lost his registered firearm in unclear circumstances.

Police reports indicate Konchellah's gun went missing in Nairobi on Tuesday night, June 14, 2022.

In a police statement recorded at Kilimani Police station, Konchellah claims he visited several places in the city during the day and only realized that the gun was missing shortly after arriving home.

The Chairperson of the National Environment Management Authority (NEMA) Board is said to have visited Car and General yard to purchase a motor vehicle before proceeding for lunch at Golden Spot in Kilimani.

Later, he went to Nairobi Sports Club before driving home.

Konchellah retraces his steps

Kilimani OCPD Andrew Mbogo said upon discovering that the firearm, which was loaded with nine rounds of ammunition was missing, Konchellah retraced his steps but couldn't find it.

“The matter was reported to us. Investigations have been launched but the firearm is yet to be recovered,” Mbogo said.

The police boss confirmed that Konchellah is a registered firearm holder and has had his licence for the last eight years.
