Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua's wife, Pastor Dorcas Rigathi has called upon society to embrace empathy and extend equal rights to individuals with disabilities.

During a session with people with disabilities (PWDs) and their caregivers at the Jesus Gospel Power Ministries in Narok Town on Friday, October 6, she emphasized that every person, regardless of their physical condition, deserves access to essential services such as health, education, and government support.

"We were all created in the image of God, and as you look at someone with a disability, know you are looking at the image of God. Those with disabilities have a natural and divine right to be here and access health, education, and all government services. Their disability should never be a barrier to accessing their rights, justice, and services," she stated.

According to Dorcas, pastoralist communities often witness disabilities arising from various causes, including injuries sustained during cattle rustling incidents, raids, and drug and substance abuse-related issues.

The event was attended by prominent figures from the region, including the host, Bishop Augustine Rugut, Narok First Lady Agnes Ntutu, Deputy Governor Tamalinye Koech, Chair of the PWD Narok County, Paul Sopia, and several county officers, among others.

"Their disability should never be a barrier to accessing their rights, justice, and services. Here, among the pastoralist communities, many become disabled following injuries from cattle rustling, raids, and drug and substance abuse-related causes. Present were host Bishop Augustine Rugut, Narok First Lady Agnes Ntutu, Deputy Governor Tamalinye Koech, Chair PWD Narok County Paul Sopia, and county officers, among others," she said.

Pastor Dorcas urged society to nurture a culture of care and compassion towards individuals with disabilities.

"We must care for and love those with disabilities," she concluded.
