There was drama and commotion at the Naivasha General Hospital following the death of an 8-month-old baby who died during treatment.

Speaking to a local publication, the baby's parents, faulted the hospital's staff over their loved one's demise accusing them of negligence.

According to the disheartened parents, a doctor at the facility put the baby on oxygen but the nurses removed it a few moments later saying their shift had ended.

The young couple then followed the hospital staff demanding answers as to why their child had been plugged out of the oxygen having been admitted for just a few hours. They subsequently pleaded with doctors at the facility to re-plug the oxygen but their efforts landed on deaf ears.

As they sought answers, commotion ensued at the hospital with other patients and visitors and the hospital joining the young couple forcing security guards to intervene.

"Initially, they put our baby on oxygen, but a few moments later, they came and removed it saying their shift had ended...Mi naomba tu serikali iingilie kati ichukue action ju haifai kua hivi," the baby's father said amid tears.

A witness who spoke to the publication noted that the medical staff at the facility hurriedly transferred the baby's body to the mortuary to avert attention from the press. The witness, who is a mother, also revealed that the hospital had developed a worrying trend of the negligence of children and that they were yet to be held accountable.

“These young nurses are killing our children, even mine is in the ward in a bad condition,” the witness stated.

The hospital's management called police to disperse the agitated crowd as the commotion continued.

When reached out for comment, the hospital's CEO Bernard Warui confirmed that investigations have been launched and those found guilty will be held accountable.
