There was drama in parliament after Azimio la Umoja-One Kenya coalition Members of Parliament (MPs) stormed out of the parliament soon as Treasury Cabinet Secretary (CS) Njuguna Ndung'u started reading the 2023/2024 Budget.

In a video seen by K24 Digital, there was commotion after the Treasury CS stood on the podium ready to present the Ksh3.6 trillion budget estimate.

The MPs gave the CS a hard time reading the Budget after they chanted in displeasure as they left the house.

"It is a great owner and privilege for me to present to this house and to the people of the Republic of Kenya, the first Budget of the Kenya Kwanza administration, " the CS said before the aforementioned MPs interrupted.

After they left, the CS continued to read the Budget.

The MPs who later converged outside Parliament uniformly sang "Mahustler musilale, lale lale, wakenya msilale, lale lale, bado mapambano mapambano,"

According to the MPs, the Budget was unfair to the people of Kenya who were already struggling to survive the lean times.

While affirming that they do not support the Budget, the lawmakers decried that the government was constantly being inconsiderate of the needs of Kenyans to serve their agendas. They also pledged to stand with Kenyans regardless of the outcome.

"We have walked out because Azimio does not believe in this budget. They don't think this is a budget meant for the Kenyan people. This is a budget meant for the Kenya Kwanza government," National Assembly Minority Whip, Junet Mohamed stated.

"So, until we get a budget founded on the premise of Kenyan people, we will not participate."
