Areas that have posted the 14 new coronavirus cases in Kenya

Kasarani, Makadara, Umoja, South C and Irigu area in Dagoretti South are the locations in Nairobi that have registered new coronavirus cases, Health Chief Administrative Secretary, Dr. Rashid Aman, said on Friday, May 8.

Kasarani had 4 cases, with Umoja and Makadara areas registering 2 cases each. South C and Irigu areas had a case each.

Nairobi produced a bulk of the 14 new infections (10), with Mombasa posting 3, all from Likoni and Machakos County registering one in Athi River.

One COVID-19 case was registered in one of the quarantine centers.

The 14 new infections were discovered in 922 samples tested between Thursday and Friday. Kenya’s total COVID-19 tally now stands at 621, said Dr. Aman.

All the 14 new cases were recorded among Kenyans, whose ages range from 11 months old to 49 years old.

Nine of the 14 were male, whereas five were female, said the CAS while addressing journalists at Afya House.

Kenya has thus far tested 29, 430 people for coronavirus, with the 621 cases discovered in 19 counties, Machakos being the latest to post an infection.

The CAS also revealed that five more patients have recovered from the disease, and Kenya now has 202 COVID-19 recoveries.

Fatalities arising from coronavirus disease in the country remains at 29, said the CAS.
