3 injured in accident involving multiple vehicles in Nakuru

Three people are currently undergoing treatment after sustaining injuries in a road accident near Safari Centre in the Kayole area of Nakuru county.

While confirming the unfortunate incident, the Kenya Red Cross stated that the accident occurred after a lorry lost control leading to multiple vehicle collisions.

Following the collisions, a fire started at the scene.

The Nakuru County fire team rushed to the scene and controlled the fire, police also visited the scene and cleared it.

Those injured were rushed to the Naivasha District Hospital for treatment.

"Update. The Nakuru County Fire team effectively controlled the fire resulting from the multiple collisions.
Three injured individuals have been swiftly taken to Naivasha District Hospital for medical care. The scene has been cleared by NPSofficial," the statement read in parts.

Separate incident

The latest comes hours after two people were killed in a road accident along the Nairobi-Mombasa highway.

The two aged 35 and 40 lost their lives after their car plunged into River Athi on the night of Thursday, February 15, 2024.

"The accident occurred today at around 9.30 pm and was reported to the station at around 10.00 pm along the Nairobi - Mombasa highway at Crystal River Mall bridge. It involved a motor vehicle of Nissan Xtrail make being driven by one unknown female adult aged about 35 years and was carrying one unknown male adult passenger aged around 40 years," Athi River South subcounty police commander Jos Mudavadi told a local publication.

According to the police boss, the vehicle was headed to Nairobi from Mombasa when the fatal accident occurred.

The driver lost control of the vehicle and hit the bridge guard rails before plunging into the river.

The two died on the spot and their bodies were moved to Shalom Community Hospital mortuary in Athi River.
