Mumias East Member of Parliament (MP) Peter Salasya made a lame excuse to chicken out of a marriage proposal from a curvy woman.

Salasya turned down romantic advances from the lady who took to the streets carrying a placard bearing the marriage proposal to him.

In a statement on Tuesday, April 2, 2024, the firebrand MP claimed he did not have what it takes to handle the curvy woman.

"Nasikia hii iki trend ….hii machine ni kubwa sana sidhani kaa niko na nguvu ya kuendesha hii machine nitashindwa na kazi sitaki kudharauliwa kwa sasa😄 🤣 😂 😆 ," Salasya wrote.

Women galore want Salasya

Several women have publicly expressed interest in getting hitched to the unmarried Mumias East lawmaker.

Just days earlier, Salasya sent women jostling for his love and attention after he declared in a TikTok video that he was finally ripe for marriage.

"Mumesema watu wa marry this year but who is willing to stay in the village hehe," Salasya captioned his post.

Women started having hots for Salasya from the moment he won the Mumias East parliamentary seat in the August 9, 2022 General Election.

A handful of ladies took to the streets carrying placards begging for the MP's hand in marriage.

A woman identified as Lydia Ronad was the first one to go to the streets carrying a placard which had Salasya's photo and written; ‘MP Peter Salasya Marry Me Please Mheshimiwa’.

Salasya ultimately reached out to Lydia and promised to help her advance her career.

The Mumias East MP took Lydia out for lunch but did not succumb to her romantic pursuits.

After Salasya met Lydia, Manzi Wa Kibera showed up in Nairobi CBD carrying a placard asking the Mumias East MP to marry her.

The controversial socialite caused a stir in the city as she was skimpily dressed while carrying the placard.

Salasya slammed Manzi wa Kibera while reacting to her romantic advances on him.

The controversial MP in a post on Twitter (now X) on October 19, 2022, noted that the socialite was indecently dressed.

“Next time you carry a placard, try to put on decent clothes. At least I will be proud of you and Kenyans at large. Those people I serve are so strict on image presentation. Manzi Wa Kibera, I wish you all the best. One day I will come we fellowship together in a church," Salasya wrote.

In a follow-up post, the first-time MP said he had gotten in touch with Manzi Wa Kibera, claiming that he would start a church with the socialite and the other lady Lydia who wanted him for a husband.

"My two sisters below are amazing daughters of this land. I have talked to both, and they are fine and happy. I have promised them that we shall open a church. Lydia Ronad will be in charge of praise and worship as Manzi wa Kibera will be the usher, and I will be the pastor," he wrote.

Salasya's preferred partner

Speaking in an interview after some ladies expressed their desire to be his wife, Salasya noted that his ideal woman must be young and God-fearing.

He also noted that she must be willing to support his political venture and able to talk to people during vote-hunting missions.

"I am just looking for a very prayerful woman, very young girl, focused girl, supportive girl, presentable and must be able to speak to the people in the countryside. Are you willing to join me we go look for votes,” Salasya said.
