Kericho Governor Erick Mutai on Wednesday, December 13, 2023, invited the bridegroom in Bomet's botched wedding at his office.
In an update on Facebook, the county boss said he invited Amos Rono, for a man-to-man talk but did not provide further details.
"Following the unexpected turn of events for Amos ahead of his big day, I invited the gentleman for a man-to-man talk. Amos honoured the invite this morning and paid me a courtesy call at the county offices.
"Besides the support that I extended to my brother, I left him with the word of God in Psalms 34: 18 which reads: “The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit,” the Governor said.
Rifts between the couple spilt into public view after the bride called off the wedding before clarifying that it had been postponed.
Rono was set to wed his lover Nelly Chepkoech at Kapsoyo AGC church in Bomet on Saturday but the wedding was called off abruptly after Nelly 'demanded' more time.
In his statement after the news went viral online, Amos called it quits saying he doesn't want a relationship with the bride and subsequently called off the wedding.
He stated that each of them would go their separate ways and wished Nelly good riddance as she progressed with her life.
While stressing that they will not be getting back together, Amos faulted Nelly for being the cause of the wedding cancellation saying that she was entangled in a love web with another man.
"Kungekua na harusi yenye ingefanyika na kwa sababu ya bibi harusi ambaye alisema ya kwamba ako na mtu mwengine mahali na hapo alisema awali hio harusi haikufanyika kwa sababu ya hayo maneno ambayo alisema. Kitu ingine ni kua nimemwacha yeye aende afuzu maishani mwake upande ule mwengine ama atafte bwana mwengine, kwa sababu ata kama alikua amesema bila ata kujua namsamehe yeye," he said.
