Following Trade Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria's tirade on a local TV station over supporting his US trip, Eric Omondi claims to have paid him back.
On Saturday, June 24, 2023, via his official Instagram, Eric Omondi posted a screenshot of his Mpesa transaction showing a transfer of Ksh 126,000 to the CS.
He stated that he expects respect now that he has paid back the debt.
"Heshima idumu sasa," Eric wrote.
Moses regrets helping Eric Omondi
On June 8, Moses Kuria expressed his displeasure with Eric Omondi for always criticizing the government. He went as far as decrying his regret for sponsoring his trip.
He stated that the trip was to help the comedian get exposure and get a broader perspective of the world.
He hoped Eric Omondi would have a different stance on the government's taxation plans.
To his displeasure, Eric didn't turn out to be the person he hoped hence his regret.
“Nimeskia Eric Omondi ambaye amesema yeye ni kijana na miaka saba iliyopita nilichukua pesa yangu nikampeleka America ndio aone vile dunia iko na saa hii vile anaongea afadhali ningetumia hiyo pesa kwa sherehe sababu sioni kama kuna kitu alisoma” Kuria said.

Eric Omondi promise
Eric Omondi had taken Moses' act of revealing that he had sponsored his trip on national television to heart and swore to reimburse him the money.
Eric noted that he intended to pay back the money to avoid being embarrassed in the future by the politician in front of his kids.
He also revealed that if he paid it back, the controversial politician won't have leverage on him- whenever he mentioned he helped him, he (Eric Omondi) will proudly say he paid it back.
