According to some fans, comedian Timothy Kimani alias Njugush seemingly drew a few chuckles during his recent Through Thick 'N' Thin #TTNT stand-up comedy show in Australia.

This, birthed ongoing debate about Kenyan standup comedy with netizens sharing mixed opinions about who's funny and who's not. After all, in comedy, funny is what matters.

Njugush was mostly targeted and while some argued he is not funny, others seem to agree that there is a need in seeking out different kinds of funny and to not limit yourself to such a short list of laughs.

While the whole topic of 'being funny or not' is truly objective, if you care about the craft, you should allow all the great jokes to be heard, not just the ones you can relate to.

On his part, singer Bien Aime of the boy band Sauti Sol drifted from the discourse noting that he respects Njugush.

Bien argues that it is about legacy and for Njugush and his wife Celestine Ndinda, you cannot take it away from them.

"Njugush ako tu sawa. I have nothing but respect for this man and his wife. Legacy over everything," he tweeted.

Bien's comment is a direct contrast to singer Jua Cali's view who opined that Njugush is not a comedian.

"Njugush ni boy wangu but hakuna comedian hapo, not funny at all," Jua Cali said while laughing at a video of Njugush struggling to crack jokes in Australia.

He however apologised saying;

"Fans wa Njugush na Njugush poleni sana kama hio tweet ilicome out harsh hio haikua intention napenda Skits za Njugush ๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿ”ฅ ni vile tu StandUp ni ballgame ingine noma but polepole with practice NJUGUSH will become one of the Greats, letโ€™s come together StandUp ni artform inataka patience na a lot of resources kama tu music industry but done right hapo kuna doe kuruka!!! If we put our heads together tutatoboa.
Have a good day watu wangu ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿฟ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿฟ
," Jua Cali tweeted.

Njugush has been on an international comedy tour after selling out his KICC gig on May 27, 2023.
